Itineraries are carried out in Dorobo/Home Planet Exploration wilderness project areas listed below.Land Rover supported Walking Safaris travel to ... E stablished in 1991 through a partnership with three Maasai villages this teeming wilderness area is part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem. The Arash Wilderness Area backdrop is a sculpture garden with obelisk and dome shaped granite outcroppings, water holes, Acacia forest and enormous sky. Given the number of vantage points we are guaranteed to see wildlife grazing and roaming the landscape. This is truly the Garden of Eden as it can be imagined. 2-14 days.
Oldonyo Sambu Wilderness Area O ldonyo Sambu Wilderness Area is a critical component of the Tarangire National Park ecosystem. This wilderness area project was started by Dorobo projects in 1991 through a partnership with the Maasai village of Emboret. Wildlife density is much lower than in the Arash, and the landscape is not as stunning on first impression however, over the years Oldonyo Sambu has grown in attraction. The land holds mystery in its myriad of topographies and vegetation diversity. Unexpected encounters with wildlife species are frequent in the thick bush. This area produces close encounters with the ever-elusive wild dog and stealthy greater kudu.2-4 Day Trips inlcude visits to... M akame village has set aside 600 sq. km. within their village area as wilderness with the only people presence being traditional seasonal grazing kraals. Dorobo and Home Planet Exploration are part of a three-way partnership conservation project with Makame villages in this area. The land is similar to the Serengeti, but covered with bush rather than grassland and punctuated by Acacia tortilis clearings, rock outcrops, small mountains and large valley grasslands. Wildlife density is low but as with Oldonyo Sambu, special encounters are always possible. Set in the heart of the vast Maasai Steppe, cultural encounters with Maasai are as unspoiled as one will find in East Africa. 2-4 daysT he Yaida Valley is a remote rift valley to the south of the Ngorongoro Highlands. This cultural wilderness is steeped in ancient traditions and ways of life. It clearly represents the threat imposed on indigenous peoples. The Yaida Valley is home to the Hadazda, a small group of hunter-gatherers, as well as, the Datoga pastoralist. Those who visit are invariably enchanted by the Yaida Valley, touched by the ancient Hazda lifestyles, and fascinated by the Datoga who walk to their own drummer. 1-4 daysT |
